READ/SAN DIEGO AND ITS PARTNERS
Family Literacy Programs

READ/San Diego operates eight family literacy programs targeting families with pre-school-aged children and parents with low literacy levels. The concept is an old one: when parents read to them, children do better in school. READ/San Diego offers family literacy programs in branch libraries, but also seeks partnerships with other organizations, both to reach the target population and to locate facilities convenient for the families. Two examples of these programs are partnerships with Starbucks Coffee and Mountain Health and Community Services.
