Families for Literacy (FFL) Program Assistant

Purpose of Position:

Assist Families for Literacy Coordinator with FFL programs at the City Heights/Weingart, El Cajon, Malcolm X and Vista branch libraries (story telling and assisting children with activities), or assist with program preparations of Literacy activities.

  • Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with children and parents

Responsible To: FFL Coordinators

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist children with Literacy activities at programs.

  2. Reading aloud children's books and storytelling.

  3. Assist with preparation of Literacy activities.

  4. Duplicating.

  5. Complete monthly volunteer report and other forms as necessary.

Training Provided: One-on-one training in storytelling, FFL literacy activities preparation and presentation and program facilitation.

Time Commitment: Minimum of four days per month, two hours per day.

Length of Commitment: Six months
