Module 5 - Adult Literacy Classroom
Introduction – Fitting It All Together
This module is designed to help you in thinking about how to fit together adult students' learning needs, the appropriate curriculum, and your learners’ preferred learning methods into an educational program that you can manage and that will facilitate learning for your students. As an adult educator, you have many options for how to fit learning activities together into lessons and lessons into the time allotted. You will also need to consider how you will approach student learning over the course of a week or a month, or even longer, taking into consideration your students’ varying schedules and paces of learning. Instructors and students need to work together to find a structure for learning that best fits the individuals involved. Presented in this module is a survey of methods for organizing and structuring adult learning to fit the learning situation. Only a few examples are provided here - as you continue in your professional development and interact with other instructors, you will find many other methods for “fitting it all together” to effectively support adult literacy learners.
