Module 5 - Adult Literacy Classroom
Delivery Modes
No single instructional delivery method is right for all learners. In fact, a mix of delivery modes is usually recommended, if possible, for most adult literacy learners. In the next few topics we will address four delivery modes, examining their strengths and weaknesses and how to best integrate them into a coherent “picture” of instruction for adult literacy learners. The four delivery modes are: one-on-one instruction, small group instruction, large group instruction, and distance learning.
Consider your school experiences.
- How often did you receive one-on-one instruction? How often did you work in small groups?
- How engaged were you during large group/whole class instruction?
- Did you have a preferred delivery mode? Has this preference changed?
On your worksheet, make some notes about your experiences and preferences as a learner participating in various delivery modes.
Then state what implications from your experience might be important to keep in mind when designing instruction for adult literacy learners.
