Annie E. Casey Foundation's Making Connections, a Neighborhood Transformation
Family Development Initiative
Encourages all sectors of the community to work together to build safer, family-supported neighborhoods. Various research and how-to materials cover topics such as neighborhood development, welfare reform, and education.

The Asset-Based Community Development Institute (ABCD)
Institute for Policy Research, Northwestern University
Group organizes workshops on community development delivered by leaders from foundations, community groups, United Ways, churches, and universities. Also makes available publications on capacity building, evaluations, media, and organization building.

Buildliteracy.org
Interactive Website for building and sustaining literacy coalitions. Provides information and resources on adult literacy, libraries and coalitions. Also includes profiles of successful literacy coalitions, a menu of activities, and suggestions on how to build partnerships with local libraries.

Community Building Resource Exchange
Site of the Aspen Institute Roundtable on Comprehensive Community Initiatives for Children and Families offers a wide range of resources and information about innovative community building. Focus areas include community development, education, faith-based development, and family services. Includes profiles of comprehensive community initiatives throughout the country.

Literacy USA
Supports coalitions of literacy service providers in major metropolitan areas throughout the country. Is a strong advocacy voice, facilitates networking of coalition leaders through two meetings a year and an electronic list, provides technical assistance to emerging coalitions and those in crisis, funnels resources to local coalitions, and engages major funders.

National Community Education Association (NCEA)
NCEA is a nonprofit membership organization that provides leadership, training, and informational materials to its members, who include individuals, schools and districts. Supports formal and informal learning opportunities for all community members at local school sites. Promotes collaboration among community partners.

National Network for Collaboration (NNCO)
Self-directed team made up of 21 land-grant universities focuses on cooperative extension system educators and their customers and partners. NNCO provides curricula, journal articles, reports, books, videos, newsletters and evaluation instruments. Site includes evaluation toolkit for assessing collaborations, a collaboration framework, and fact sheets on coalition formation and maintenance.

Office of University Partnerships (OUP)
U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
Established by HUD in 1994 to encourage and expand community-university partnerships, OUP administers grants and holds conferences and workshops to support universities that are collaborating with neighborhood residents, businesses, and local organizations to revitalize their communities. Site includes research reports, newsletters, and grantee publications. Also features a database of community-university partnerships that can be searched by location, grant program, and activity.

QUILT (Quality in Linking Together Early Education Partnerships)
QUILT, a national training and technical assistance project, supports partnerships among childcare, Head Start, pre-kindergarten and other early education programs at all levels. Partnership tools section contains a wealth of resources that may be relevant to many adult education providers. Chapters include: Partnership Design, Partnership Management, Staff and Partnerships, Fiscal Aspects of Partnerships, Partnership Agreements, Continuous Improvement of Partnerships and Training, and Technical Assistance Materials for Partnerships.

United Way of America
Community Building initiative strives to foster national collaboration to assist United Way in addressing pertinent community issues. Offers technical assistance, fund distribution, community resource guides, consultation, and training services to strengthen community-building methods. COMPASS II tool kit contains guiding principles for building community.
