America's Promise, The Alliance for Youth Includes many resources for improving the support provided to disadvantaged youth. The website includes research on youth populations, best practices, briefs, and tools for creating strong community partnerships for youth initiatives. The section on community action provides a Corporate Toolkit, containing forms and materials, an explanation of a step-by-step process, and examples for engaging corporate partners. American Youth Policy Forum (AYPF) A non-profit, non-partisan organization focused on informing policymakers, practitioners, and researchers about youth and education issues. Holds events and publishes policy reports to foster a greater understanding of youth issues around three themes: improving education and academic outcomes, preparing for careers, and youth development and community. The Forum for Youth Investment A non-profit that supports programs preparing youth for college, work, and life. Provides research and analysis, technical assistance, training, and partnership opportunities. Expertise includes youth development, older youth/transition to adulthood, standards development in youth work, and community building and development of local assets. National Collaboration on Workforce and Disability for Youth (NCWD/Youth) Website providing practitioners, administrators, and policymakers with information about employment and youth with disabilities. Includes information briefs, a database of promising programs and practices, a publications bank, technical assistance tools, quick reference guides, and an e-newsletter. National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC) NYEC’s mission is to strengthen organizations helping youth become productive, self-sufficient citizens. Offers research reports, a monthly newsletter, legislative updates, professional development opportunities, and other program improvement resources to its 285 member organizations. Sar Levitan Center for Social Policy Studies Johns Hopkins University, Institute for Policy Studies Provides technical assistance, sponsors research, and convenes experts to build the capacity of organizations to assist at-risk youth through improved policies, practices, and programs. Includes a Youth Practitioners Toolbox (available for purchase), research reports on youth and workforce preparation, and other helpful resources. The Youth Transition Funders Group (YTFG) A network of funders whose mission is to help vulnerable youth make a successful transition to adulthood by age 25. Links to publications, working papers, and collaborations in the following key areas: foster care, juvenile justice, and out-of-school youth/struggling students. Also convenes working groups and sponsors other events. YouthBuild USA For administrators, practitioners, and others interested in locating or developing a YouthBuild program, which provides unemployed and undereducated youth aged 16-24 with academic and workforce experience. Site includes a searchable program database, publications, and information about training events on youth development, leadership, workforce preparation, and program design and organization. |
