Many adults who struggled through school as children and adolescents may have had learning disabilities that went undiagnosed. Experts in this field estimate that between 5 and 30 percent of adults have learning disabilities, although it is difficult to determine the specifics for lack of formal and informal identification techniques. While the exact number remains unclear, there is no doubt that a learning disability can severely impair any learner's ability to perceive, understand, and/or use information. The information offered in this section is intended to help educators identify and address learning disabilities in adult learners.
