America's Literacy Directory Write Review This online, searchable database of U.S. literacy programs is a joint service of the National Institute for Literacy (NIFL), the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Education, and Verizon. Database can be accessed through the National Institute for Literacy's toll-free number (800-228-8813). AmeriCorps Write Review Part of the network of national service programs, AmeriCorps is a source of volunteers for nonprofits, public agencies, and faith-based organizations in the fields of education, public safety, health, and the environment. Offers organizations recruitment resources, volunteer manuals and forms, and research reports on volunteer programs. USA Freedom Corps Write Review The White House Encourages businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies to build their volunteer capacity. Provides information and resources for beginning a volunteer program, managing volunteer resources, evaluating and sustaining volunteer programs, and Business Strengthening America (BSA)—a volunteer initiative created and overseen by members of the business community.
