Preparing adults for the demands of a changing economy and society is one of our country's greatest education challenges. How do we best address the needs of millions of adults who lack the literacy, technical, and basic skills to find and sustain meaningful careers, parent their children effectively, or take part in civic activities? As the demand for services rises and resources are ever more stretched, one essential strategy is increased collaboration among adult education providers. Community Partnerships for Adult Learning, sponsored by the Office of Vocational and Adult Education, is about strengthening ties among businesses, libraries, colleges, national nonprofits, faith-based and community-based organizations, social services and workforce development agencies, federally funded state-run programs, and other providers to improve the accessibility and quality of adult education. This Web site was developed and is maintained by MPR Associates, Inc. for the Office of Vocational and Adult Education of the U.S. Department of Education. It was rated “Superior +” for innovation, effectiveness, and adaptability, and “Excellent” for design and readability by the Focus Bulletin (January, 2004) issued by the Bureau of Adult Basic and Literacy Education of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
